About the Safety Awards
Awards Announcement
NPRA congratulates all of this year’s award recipients. Best wishes for a safe 2010.
The NPRA Safety Statistics and Awards Program is part of a comprehensive safety program developed by NPRA’s Safety and Health Committee to promote accident prevention in the petroleum refining and petrochemical manufacturing industries as well as the contractors supporting them and to publicly recognize those facilities that for the previous year have achieved a high safety standard in their daily operations.
NPRA companies who operate U.S. refineries and petrochemical manufacturing plants, as well as NPRA Associate member contractors working in those facilities.
The Safety Awards are based on records kept for employees in accordance with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) record keeping requirements as defined by law and entered on the OSHA 300A form.
The NPRA safety awards program is open to NPRA Regular Member companies which operate a U.S. refinery or petrochemical manufacturing plant as well as NPRA Associate Member contractors. Associate members must be nominated by a Regular Member operating facility to be eligible for an award.
Process Safety Statistics Collection
The NPRA Safety & Health Committee has developed a new program to collect and report Process Safety Events (PSE) for a new Process Safety Statistics Report. The PSE data will be collected in conjunction with the current NPRA Occupational Injury and Illness (OII)Statistics Report (I&I Report). NPRA will begin collecting 2010 PSE data in January 2011 for benchmarking purposes. This data will be collected at the company aggregate level only and will only be used for benchmarking purposes and not shared outside of NPRA membership. This year's survey will be done online. If you would like to participate or have any questions, please contact Lara Swett, lswett@npra.org. Participation is not mandatory, however NPRA and the Safety & Health committee strongly encourage all sites to participate in this program to help petroleum and petrochemical companies set performance targets, drive continuous improvement, and to permit industry benchmarking.
