Energy Policy Announcement

In November, NPRA filed comments to EPA regarding EPA's Advance Notice of Public-Rulemaking regarding regulating greenhouse gases (GHGs) using the Clean Air Act (CAA).   Regulation of GHGs under the Act would have enormous consequences for every facet of the economy, for industry large and small, as well as for the general population.  NPRA does not believe that regulation of GHGs under the CAA would be an effective or efficient means to address climate change.  Click here to read the comments.


NPRA is committed to a balanced national energy policy that allows the free market to supply American consumers with safe, reliable, and affordable petrochemical products and energy.

  • Supply

    NPRA believes American consumers are best served by the broadest, most diverse energy portfolio possible, and the best way to achieve this diversity is to enhance and encourage domestic production and supply.

  • Punitive Taxes

    Since January 2007, Congress has repeatedly considered punitive legislation designed to specifically raise taxes on American gasoline and petrochemical producers.  Singling out the domestic oil and gas sector of the U.S. economy with punitive tax measures ultimately impacts American consumers and increases our reliance on foreign sources of energy.

  • Price Controls

    “Price-gouging” legislation is a “solution” in search of a problem. If enacted, such legislation would only serve to impose federal price controls that, in the 1970s, led to gasoline shortages and economic harm.
